I qualified as a counsellor in 1995 with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from Birmingham University. I have a Certificate in Therapeutic Play with PTUK, and have trained in Compassionate Focused Therapy with Professor Paul Gilbert and the Compassionate Mind Foundation. More recently, I have undertaken training in ecotherapy and nature therapy. As a long-standing practitioner of mindfulness, I often integrate mindfulness-based approaches into my work. I seek to offer a reflective, compassionate space for enquiry and exploration of whatever matters most to you.

My own personal journey has been deeply shaped by the experience of living with chronic pain from a young age, and a heartfelt question of how to respond creatively to the many forms of suffering and injustice in the world. Significant experiences of illness and loss have taught me a deep appreciation of the fragility and preciousness of life, and led me to explore ways in which we can connect with a sense of kindness and beauty, even in the hardest of times.

I have spent nearly three decades accompanying others on their journey through life in different ways. In my twenties, I spent several years living in a Buddhist retreat centre and have taught meditation and led retreats in a variety of contexts since then. I have worked as a counsellor and wellbeing therapist for bereavement charities, and as a counsellor and trainer for children’s charities. As a chaplain working in hospices, I have supported adults and their families to live well with life-limiting illness, and provided spiritual and emotional care to those who are dying. More recently, I have begun to explore ways of taking meditation and therapy outside in the natural world, as a way of not only healing ourselves but also coming into a deeper sense of connection with and care for all of life.

Since 2018, I have worked in private practice with adults and young people, offering support on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, abuse, bereavement and loss, relationship issues, bullying, low self-esteem, identity issues, sexuality, chronic or terminal illness, and spirituality.

I have been an Accredited Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) since 2010 and work according to their ethical guidelines.
